1. 1 Samuel 17:
2.  Exodus 3:

1.  "Don't worry about this Philistine," David told Saul.  "I'll go fight him."

2.  "Goliath stood and shouted a taunt across the Israelites.  "Why are you all coming out to fight?" he called.  "I am the Philistine champion, but you are only the servants of Saul.  Choose one man to came down here and fight me!

3.  "I defy the armies of Israel today! Send me a man who will fight me!"

4.  "The LORD who rescued me from the claws of the lion, and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!"

5.  "David replied to the Philistine, "You come to me with sword, spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of Heaven's Armies - the God of armies of Israel, whom you have defied."

6.  "I can't go in these, " he protested to Saul.  "I'm not used to them."  So David took them off again."

7.  "Now, David was the son of a man named Jesse, an Ephrathite from Bethlehem in the land of Judah.  Jesse was an old man at that time, and he had eight sons."

8.  "But Moses protested to God, "Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?"

9.  "But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless a mighty hand forces him."

10.  "One day Moses was tending the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian.  He led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Sinai, the mountain of God."

11.  "God replied to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM.  Say this to the people of Israel: Yahweh, the God of your ancestors - the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob - has sent me to you.  This is my eternal name, my name to remember for all generations."

12.  "This is amazing," Moses said to himself.  "Why isn't that bush burning up? I must go and see it."

13.  "But Moses protested, "If I go to the people of Israel and tell them, "The God of your ancestors has sent me to you, 'they will ask me, 'What is his name?' Then what should I tell them?"

14.  "When the LORD saw Moses coming to take a closer look, God called to him from the middle of the bush, 'Moses! Moses!" "Here I am!" Moses replied."

15.  "God answered, "I will be with you.  And this is your sign that I am the one who has sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God at this very mountain."

16.  "Do not come any closer," the LORD warned.  "Take off your sandals, for you are standing on holy ground."

17. "I am the God of your father - the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob. "When Moses heard this, he covered his face because he was afraid to look at God."

18.  "He picked up five smooth stones from a stream and put them into his shepherd's bag.  Then, armed with only with his shepherd's staff and sling, he started across the valley to fight the Philistine."

19.  "And everyone assembled here will know that the LORD rescues his people, but not with a sword and spear.  This is the LORD'S battle, and he will give you to us!"

20.  "Reaching into his shepherd's bag and taking out a stone, he hurled it with his sling and hit the Philistine in the forehead.  The stone sank in, and Goliath stumbled and fell face down on the ground."
